Gernot Heinrich, Burgenland

St. Laurent, 2012

tasting notes:

The Heinrich St. Laurent – from sandy, fast-draining soils around Gols which suit this always rot-prone variety, and subjected to three weeks fermentative maceration in tank before going to used barrels – features bitter black cherry tinged with fennel, sage, pepper, and a briny salinity. There is a certain Cabernet Franc-like aura to this wine, which offers a plush palate feel and finishes with sap and ripeness. Furore & RotWeissrot: 17.0 Points
