Delicious & Outstanding

Herbert Zillinger stands out as a winemaker among hundreds of others in Weinviertel, the largest wine-producing region in Austria. The high quality of and the diversity found in Zillinger’s wines make all the difference. His devotion, particularly to Traminer and Grüner Veltliner had led him to abandon any compromises and to follow his instincts in both the vineyards and the cellar, to farm organically and neglecting any modern winemaking styles. This leads to wines made from traditional fermentation with time to mature, just like how his grandfathers did before him, which makes his step back to basics with authentic and organic cultivation methods logical. Today the 12 hectares of vines are under conversion to organic land management, awaiting their certification.

The estate is under the care of both Herbert and his wife Carmen, a speech therapist who has helped to look after the winery with passion since 2005. In addition, their daughters Amelie and Rosemarie, and Labrador retriever, Lotti completes the Zillinger family. The Zillinger estate is not just a winery, for it is also a holiday location. Stylishly adapted rooms are available for travelers who are looking for a friendly and relaxing ambiance. Absolutely quiet, the food is prepared with organic ingredients and the bread are sourced from a nearby bakery. Dips in the swimming pool are welcome, as well as friendly barbeques with winemaker’s family makes your stay more relaxing and personal.
